Ways to Develop a Thicker Head of Hair

Introduction

As I grew older, I noticed my hair to be thinner because of male pattern baldness. So I have tried various methods to thicken my hair to make it look fuller and make it grow faster.

First you need to understand how you get thinner hair from male pattern baldness and how I have gone about getting a fuller head of hair.

Male And Female Pattern Baldness

Genetics and the hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone) cause both male and female pattern baldness. DHT is formed when testosterone is converted to DHT. In men, this can occur anytime after puberty, while in women, it usually comes during or after menopause.

When DHT is formed, it will attach itself to the hair follicle stopping nutrients from getting to the hair follicle and hair strand. Eventually the hair strand falls out and the follicle starts to shrink, eventually dieing. When the follicle shrinks, there are less nutrients to the hair strand allowing for the hair strand to become thinner.

This thinness in the hair strand is what I wanted to correct both temporarily and permanently.

Temporary Thicker Hair

Shampoos and Conditioners- You can find shampoos and conditioners on the market today that were developed specifically to allow people to have thicker hair. You should however stay away from shampoos that tout Biotin. Though Biotin is good for your hair, it is doubtful it is absorbed in the skin through shampooing, besides Biotin is produced in the body.

Beer- One thing I found very successful is using beer to rinse your hair. Do not use the expensive beer; cheap beer is just as effective.

The way I use it is to ensure it is at room temperature, apply to my hair and let stand for one to two minutes. Then I rinse it out with a shampoo designed to make your hair thicker.

These are a couple of the ways I used to make my hair look fuller on a temporary nature.

Permanent Thicker Hair

My research on male and female pattern baldness showed that most of the methods utilized to stimulate more hair growth is to increase the amount of blood circulation in the scalp. This will allow for more nutrients to be presented to the hair follicle and hair strand.

The methods I used to increase my blood circulation in my scalp are:
Minoxidil - This drug is approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) to help both men and women stop their hair loss and re-grow their hair caused by male or female pattern baldness. Minoxidil is believed to increase the blood flow to your scalp stopping hair loss and re-grow your hair.Massaging- Another method I use is I massage my scalp periodically throughout the day. This will increase the blood circulation in my scalp.Exercise- I perform vigorous exercises for 45 to 60 minutes daily. This also increases blood flow to my scalp.

Conclusion

If you want thicker hair there are some temporary methods you can use, but the key to having permanent thicker hair is to increase your blood circulation to the scalp.
